I am committed to responding to communications in a timely manner.
Hi there! My name is Allie. I am married to my best friend, Josh, and we live with our golden retriever, Maple, in southern Minnesota. I enjoy cooking, playing piano, spending time with my husband, and, of course, proofreading!
Court reporting can be a stressful career with daunting deadlines and an abundant — and sometimes overabundant — workload. My passion is to serve my clients with excellence; I am equipped with the skills necessary to boost your success and to help you produce top-notch transcripts.
I regularly reference Morson’s English Guide for Court Reporters, Margie Wakeman Wells’s Court Reporting: Bad Grammar/Good Punctuation, and Merriam Webster’s online dictionary, but I work hard to accommodate your individual preferences as well. I absolutely love the flexibility of working from home, and I am delighted to be able to transform my critical eye for spelling and punctuation errors into a profitable transcript proofreading business.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions; I am happy to chat with you — via phone or email — to see if we’re a good fit to work together. I’m looking forward to working as a team and building a great relationship with you.
Follow these step-by-step instructions to ensure that your job is proofed and processed as efficiently as possible.
Scope and spell-check your transcript. My job is to do a final read-through of your transcript to proofread it, not scope it. Exceptionally messy transcripts will be up-charged or sent back.
Convert your transcript to a PDF file. If your computer is not already equipped with a converter, you can download a free one online. I am happy to assist or educate about the conversion process, if needed.
Email your transcript to me as a PDF file. In your email, please specify which turnaround time you are in need of. I will confirm receipt and availability as soon as possible.
I proofread my clients’ transcripts in PDF. The program I use allows me to highlight text and make notations directly on the pages as I read through your transcript. Corrections are easy to see.
When I email your completed transcript to you, I only return the pages on which I suggested corrections. That way you won’t have to search through all of the pages unnecessarily.
For my regular clients, I email invoices on the 15th and last day of each month; payment is due within 15 days. New clients and one-off jobs are billed immediately, and payment is due within 15 days. I currently accept checks and PayPal, but I am open to considering other payment methods if you have a different preference.
I offer professional proofreading services at competitive rates.
